On March 31 and April 7, 2009, BELCO hosted public meetings at The Bermuda College to provide information to the Island’s residents about five proposals for large-scale renewable energy installations. The presenting companies discussed their proposals for power generation utilising wind, solar photovoltaic, ocean, biomass and municipal waste resources. We invite you to download each of the presentations.
The presentations are part of a comprehensive process that started on September 12, 2008, when BELCO invited suitably qualified parties to submit statements of interest for the development of large-scale, long-term renewable energy generation in Bermuda. BELCO was pleased to receive a wide range of responses by the deadline on November 14. Submissions were evaluated for completeness and a request for clarifications and additional information was sent out on December 16 with a January 15, 2009 deadline for submissions. BELCO subsequently selected the five potential installations for further consideration.
